What is Special Cargo ?
What is meant by special cargo are all types of goods that require special handling, starting from the time the goods are taken, stored, the distribution process until the goods are received at the location. Special cargo transported by aircraft, must be correct in the special cargo shipping procedure and must comply with the provisions issued by IATA (International Air Transport Association).
Some examples of goods that fall into the special cargo category:
- Things with strong odors such as durian, perfume, etc.
- Things that are easily damaged and destroyed such as, food, vegetables, fruits, plants
- Goods with high sales value.
The way of handling goods that are classified as special cargo is very different compared to the delivery of goods under the general cargo category. Goods with special cargo categories are more prone to damage and destruction, so they require special handling starting when the goods are picked up until the goods are received at the location.
